Image of chemotherapy preparation
As soon as you’re diagnosed with cancer, choosing a right oncologist is the most important stepping stone you would put to start up your cancer treatment plan. Your oncologist is going to be the captain of your cancer battle if you choose the right one.

Experience: The first choice

When it comes to choosing an oncologist, it’s very important to put much consideration on experience of the oncologist. Experience doesn't always mean that oncologist would be knowing everything about cancer treatment. But having more experience means he or she would have done several mistakes in his or her carrier which would be focused on planning patient’s treatment. He would put more priority not to repeat those mistakes and would plan a better treatment regime. For sure, he or she would have come across several cases similar to yours and would have experience in treating similar cases. This gives more spices for an effective treatment plan.

Education: Knowledge is the power

There is a vast different between an oncologist who studied from a prestigious institution than an oncologist who studied from a third world cancer institution. Knowledge of cancer is the only power to resolve the complicated and rare form of cancer. For instance, very recently a teenage model from UK died after having cervical cancer. At first doctors refused to do Pap smear test because she was too young. They believed that she would not be having cervical cancer because she was under 25 and misdiagnosed it as Crohn's Disease. But according to recent cancer researches and prominent cases reported we can’t conclude cancer is an age related disease condition.

Facilities and staffs: Backbone of cancer treatment

Image of cancer hospitalIn a developed country like US, it wouldn't be difficult to select a cancer treatment center. Since, most of the cancer centers have been equipped with modern and sophisticated facilities. Staffs are wells trained and experienced. But in developing world, when choosing a cancer center it is wise to have a proper research before deciding to start cancer treatment. Poverty and lack of skilled manpower is the main obstacle that suffer the third world countries providing a better health care.

Location: Reduce interruption of daily activities

Cancer treatment requires lots of appointments and patient has to devote lots of time with oncologist. Consider choosing an appropriate cancer facility nearest to your place, which would reduce disruption of your daily life activities.

Insurance Coverage: For those who cannot afford

Usually cancer treatment is very expensive. Make sure the hospital or a doctor you choose cover the insurance.

Rapport: Warm welcoming character

Make sure you feel comfortable with your oncologist. Select an oncologist who is very warm welcoming and
oncologist
helpful, because you’re going to discuss with him or her your personal issues. He or she should be the one who listens to you and support to continue with the treatment plan.

These tips definitely would help you to choose an oncologist for your cancer treatment plan.Start your cancer treatment regime with a right oncologist for a better outcome.
